Cameroon sheep

Let's learn

The Cameroon sheep, native to Cameroon and other surrounding West African countries, is one of the world’s oldest surviving breeds.  It is believed that there are less than 1000 of these sheep in existence.

Known as a hair breed, the Cameroon sheep has no wool, but thick, tight hair with an extra undercoat during winter months.  This extra undercoat is automatically shed in the spring meaning that the Cameroon does not need to be shorn.

Males can be recognised by their manes, spiral horns, and the thick ruff around their throats.  Females do not have horns.
