Conservation, education and research
As one of the UK’s leading zoos, we work to an exceptionally high standard of animal welfare. Collaborating with other top zoos and charities, our mission is to help educate people about all the animals we care for here, and work together to preserve some of the world’s most endangered species.
Our work at the Safari Park
We provide specialist care for over 300 animals – many of which are endangered in the wild. Working closely with the European Endangered Species Programme, we participate in a number of breeding programmes.
Over the years we’ve seen many new arrivals at the park and, as many of the world’s rarest species come under increasing pressure, this work has never been more important.
Link to the Wild
We support conservation projects all over the world. From big cats and primates to marine mammals, we raise money and awareness of our nominated projects through our fundraising initiative, Link to the Wild.
Since 2014 we have disbursed over £218k, which has helped fund important projects, protecting endangered species in the wild from extinction.
Professional accreditation
As a member of the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA), we’re committed to providing the very highest standards of care for all our animals. Our dedicated animal keepers and specialist veterinarians work tirelessly to ensure that these standards are always maintained.
Research programmes
Research is a vital part of our work here and helps us to understand more about specific species, their environment and the best ways to help with conservation. We have close links with many Scottish universities and welcome research proposals.
