Three chimps at Blair Drummond Safari Park

Join us for Chimp Weekend

9 July 2025

This weekend, we’re celebrating World Chimpanzee Day with a jam-packed programme of fun, learning and conservation. Join our Education Team at the top of the path to Chimp Island on Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th of July, and get stuck into a brilliant mix of hands-on activities.

It’s all in support of Link to the Wild and the Bulindi Chimpanzee and Community Project – a fantastic initiative that protects wild chimps in Uganda by conserving their forest habitat and supporting the people who live nearby.

Here’s what’s happening:

Feed the Chimps – Raffle
Fancy flinging food across the water to Chimp Island? Enter our raffle for a chance to catapult a tasty treat to our chimps during one of three feeds each day.

Chimp-themed tombola
Test your luck and win some prizes, with all proceeds going directly to Link to the Wild.

Touch table and puzzle station
Get hands-on with the puzzles and objects we use to keep our chimps busy and curious. It’s all about enrichment – helping them stay mentally and physically active.

A show of hands
Can you match the handprint to the correct Great Ape? This one’s trickier than it sounds!

Face facts
Chimpanzees say a lot without saying a word. Explore how they use facial expressions to communicate and see if you can spot the emotion.

Craft enrichment for our chimps
Grab a paper bag, add your own design and a message of support, and we’ll turn it into enrichment for our troop. The bags will be filled with treats and hidden around the habitat for Chippie, Gill and Peter to find and enjoy.

Whether you’re a lifelong primate fan or just curious to learn more, Chimp Weekend is a brilliant chance to get involved, support a good cause, and see just how clever and captivating our chimps really are.

Come along, join in, and help make a difference. Grab your tickets here.
