Continental Giant x French Lop Rabbit

Big in size and big on personality, our giant rabbits are a mix of Continental Giant and French Lop – two breeds renowned for their calm and easy-going nature. Weighing between 5kg and 10kg, they can be as heavy as a small dog and are several times larger than a wild European rabbit.

You might be surprised to learn that the European rabbit isn’t native to Britain. It originally comes from the Iberian Peninsula in southwest Europe, and rabbits were introduced to Britain by people many centuries ago. Today, all wild and domestic rabbits in the UK are descended from these introduced populations.

French Lops are often nicknamed the ‘gentle giants’ of the rabbit world, and it’s easy to see why. Their long, floppy ears and relaxed nature make them hard not to love. Some giant rabbits can reach truly extraordinary sizes too. A Continental Giant rabbit called Darius once held the Guinness World Record for the longest rabbit ever recorded, measuring an incredible 1.29 metres from nose to tail.
