Celebrate Chimp Day with us

8 July 2026

Chimpanzees are one of our closest living relatives, sharing around 98% of our DNA. To celebrate these incredible animals, we’re hosting a day packed with fun activities, fascinating facts and conservation-inspired challenges on Saturday the 11th of July.

Between 10am and 4pm, you’ll find our team at the Blair Drummond gazebo beside the sea lion pool, where you can discover what makes chimpanzees so remarkable and learn more about the work being done to protect them in the wild.

Throughout the day, you can compare your hand to a chimp’s, see if you can match chimp facial expressions to different emotions, and, weather permitting, decorate an enrichment bag that will later be filled with tasty treats for our chimp troop to enjoy.

You’ll also be able to get to know the personalities of our chimpanzees, climb into a life-sized chimp nest for a fun photo opportunity, and make a pebble pledge to undertake a simple action to help protect chimpanzees and their forest homes.

Feeling lucky? Enter our conservation tombola for the chance to win chimp-themed prizes or even the opportunity to catapult food over to Chimp Island during one of our special feeding sessions. Every penny raised will go to supporting our Link to the Wild conservation partners.

If you’re visiting on Saturday, be sure to stop by and join in the fun. You’ll discover just how extraordinary chimpanzees are while helping to support conservation projects making a real difference for wildlife around the world.
