We’ve got some very exciting news here at Blair Drummond Safari Park! Our brand-new safari train, Hector, has officially arrived – and just in time to be the star of our Christmas Spectacular! This festive season, you can hop on board for the Santa’s Secret Railway experience, and the best part? It’s completely FREE during the event, as our gift to you.
The moment Hector was winched into place was nothing short of magical. The excitement was palpable, and here’s the twist—our director, Hector Muir, didn’t know the train had been named after him until it rolled in! His reaction? Priceless. “I was completely taken aback when I saw my name on it. It’s such a thoughtful touch from the team and makes the train’s arrival even more special.” We think it’s the perfect name for our beautiful new train!
And this isn’t just any train. Hector was designed to capture the charm of classic steam engines, with polished brass detailing, an authentic chime whistle, and a swinging brass bell. Plus, it’s been painted in our iconic green and orange colours.
The train will meander through the forest and around the lake, treating you to stunning views of Chimp Island. During the Christmas Spectacular, the journey transforms into a magical behind-the-scenes adventure to the North Pole! Along the way, you’ll be immersed in the enchanting tale of how Santa prepares for Christmas Day, brought to life with delightful festive props and decorations. Best of all, this wonderful experience is completely free during the event – a special gift from us to you!
After the Christmas season, Hector will still be the perfect way to explore the park. The festive audio will be replaced with fun facts about our animals and the native species around us, making it a year-round adventure for everyone!
And don’t forget, Santa’s Secret Railway is just one part of our Christmas Spectacular. Along with the train ride, you can enjoy Santa sleigh fly-bys and the heart-warming Christmas theatre production, The Little Reindeer’s Search for a Song.
