Two new chimps, Karolina and Karsa, look through the viewing window at Blair Drummond Safari Park.

You may have heard about a small incident that took place in our chimp house yesterday, and we wanted to share a clear update with you.

During the incident, Karolina was bitten on her backside by our dominant male Chippie. This was likely a reaction to him being startled, which is something that can occasionally happen in chimpanzee groups.

We’re pleased to say that Karolina is doing well and is already on the mend. The group has settled back down, and she has been thoroughly checked by our veterinary team. Although the wound is still visible, she is recovering well and is being closely monitored.

We understand it can be upsetting to see injuries like this. Please be reassured that our keepers and vets are observing Karolina carefully and are supporting her every step of the way.

As always, the wellbeing of our animals is our top priority, and we’ll continue to keep a close eye on her and the rest of the group.
