Lion experience in Scotland

Our ‘Breakfast with the Lions’ experience offers early access behind the scenes at Blair Drummond Safari Park and a rare opportunity to see how we prepare our lions for the day before the park opens.

The highlight of your morning is a keeper-guided lion tong-feeding session, an important part of their daily training and veterinary care.

After the lions are released into their habitat, you’ll enjoy a tasty breakfast in our VIP viewing room while watching them begin their day.  It’s an unforgettable experience that puts you closer than ever to one of nature’s most powerful predators.

  • Approx. 2 hour experience and full day admission to the park
  • Keeper-guided lion feeding session
  • Breakfast in our VIP viewing room
  • Family experiences for ages 10+

All animal experiences must be booked online in advance.

A unique encounter like no other

We keep this experience small and personal, with a maximum of four guests per session. This allows you to get a real sense of their morning routine without disruption. Our family lion experience is for ages ten-plus and at least one participating adult must accompany any children.

Our lions are familiar with their keepers and daily training schedules, which helps make experiences like this possible in a safe, controlled and positive way for the animals.

If you’re looking for memorable animal experiences in Scotland, this offers a rare behind-the-scenes perspective you won’t find on a standard visit.

Your Breakfast with the Lions itinerary

You’ll also help prepare the lions’ morning enrichment by hiding meat in the Day Room, supporting their natural foraging behaviours.

9:55am
Step back as the final preparations are made for release.

10:00am
Watch the lions head out into their habitat for the day.

At the same time, your breakfast is served in the VIP viewing room.

Keeping you and our lions safe

Although this is an up-close experience, our lions remain wild animals and their welfare always comes first.

Here’s some top tips on how to keep everyone safe:

  • Always follow keeper instructions carefully
  • Move calmly and avoid loud noises
  • Do not attempt to feed the lions unless instructed
  • Never attempt to touch the lions
  • Listen closely during all briefings
  • Always stay behind any safety lines within the lion house

Our team will guide you throughout to ensure the experience is safe, enjoyable and informative.
