A family lion experience in Scotland

Fancy lunch with a view of one of nature’s most magnificent predators?

Our brand-new ‘Lunch in the Lions’ Den’ experience offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a delicious continental lunch while watching our lionesses from the comfort of our VIP viewing room.

With the lions just beyond the viewing glass, you’ll have the chance to see these incredible animals up close and capture that all-important photo to remember your visit by.

  • Approximately 2-hour experience and full-day admission to the park
  • Continental lunch served in our VIP viewing room
  • Private use of the VIP viewing room for your group
  • Suitable for children aged 5+
  • Minimum of 3 and maximum of 8 guests per experience
  • At least 2 paying adults required per booking

All animal experiences must be booked online in advance.

Imagine sitting down to lunch while watching our lionesses just a short distance away. It’s not your everyday dining experience!

Our VIP viewing room gives your group private use of the space, so you won’t have to share your experience with other guests. Relax, enjoy your lunch with family and friends, and take in the sights of our magnificent lions through the specially reinforced viewing windows.

‘Lunch in the Lions’ Den’ is suitable for children aged 5 and over, making it a fantastic way for families and friends to enjoy a special animal experience together.

Your 'Lunch in the Lions' Den' itinerary

Ready for a lunch date with a difference? Here’s a sample of what you might be doing:

10:00am – The park is open!

Your ‘Lunch with the Lions’ experience doesn’t start until 1pm, but you’re welcome to arrive from 10am onwards.

13:00pm – Welcome and safety briefing

A member of our Education Team will meet you outside our Lions’ Den VIP room and give you a quick safety briefing, so you know what to expect during your experience.

13:05pm – Head into the VIP room

You’ll spend around 15 minutes with a member of our Education Team, learning more about our lions, their behaviour and daily lives at Blair Drummond Safari Park.

13:20pm – Time for lunch

Now it’s time to tuck in! Enjoy your continental lunch at your own pace, with our lions providing the perfect lunchtime view.

You’ll have private use of the VIP room until 3pm, giving you plenty of time to relax, chat and enjoy watching our lions go about their day.

3:00pm – Explore the rest of the park

Your lion experience may be over, but your day doesn’t have to be! Head back out and enjoy everything else Blair Drummond Safari Park has to offer, from the Safari Drive-Thru to our other animal areas and attractions.

  • Soup of the day
  • Smoked Scottish salmon & leek tart
  • Honey roast ham & cheddar tart
  • Homemade sausage roll
  • Macaroni cheese pot
  • Selection of Scottish cheese & oatcakes
  • Charcuterie platter: ham hock & pea terrine, smoked duck breast, honey roast ham, chicken liver parfait, prosciutto ham
  • Basket of crusty bread and butter
  • Beetroot piccalilli & tomato chutney

Keeping you and our lions safe

Although this is an up-close experience, our lions remain wild animals and their welfare always comes first.

You’ll enjoy your lunch from the comfort of our VIP viewing room, with a protective glass barrier between you and the lions. This allows you to enjoy close-up views while ensuring that our animals can go about their day without disruption.

Here are a few important things to remember:

  • Always follow keeper instructions carefully
  • Move calmly and avoid loud noises
  • Do not bang on the windows
  • Do not provoke the lions through the windows

Our team will guide you throughout to ensure the experience is safe, enjoyable and informative.

If you have any accessibility requirements or food allergies, please contact us before making your booking so we can ensure your experience is tailored to your needs.

This experience takes place entirely indoors in our VIP viewing room.  Guests do not go behind-the-scenes into the Lions’ Den and there is no tong feeding session.

The minimum age for this experience is 5 years old. A minimum of 3 guests and a maximum of 8 guests can take part in each experience. At least 2 paying adults must be included in every booking.

Your group will have private use of the VIP viewing room, so you will not be sharing the experience with other guests.
