We’re bringing back our popular eco-village for another weekend of wildlife wonders – and you’re invited! Join us for a special celebration of World Nature Conservation Day on the 26th and 27th of July, with hands-on activities, fascinating facts, and plenty of opportunities to connect with the natural world.
Whether you’re a seasoned conservationist or simply curious about native species, this two-day event is packed with fun, learning and inspiration for the whole family.
Explore the eco-village
Across the weekend, we’ll be joined by a fantastic mix of conservation organisations, sharing their knowledge, passion and practical advice on how to support nature. While not every group will be present on both days, there’ll be a varied and exciting mix throughout Saturday and Sunday – so whatever day you visit, you won’t miss out. You’ll find our eco-village in the grassy area across from the BBQs.
Here’s who’ll be taking part:
Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels – Meet the team working to protect Scotland’s iconic red squirrels. Learn about the threats they face and how you can help support their survival.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) – Discover how to identify local birds, explore nationwide conservation efforts, and pick up tips for helping garden wildlife.
Bumblebee Conservation Trust – Learn why bumblebees are so important, how they’re under threat, and what you can do to make your garden a pollinator haven.
Scottish Wildlife Trust – Find out how this charity works across Scotland to protect habitats, support biodiversity, and encourage communities to get involved.
Forth Rivers Trust – Explore the vital role rivers play in our ecosystems and how this organisation is helping protect water habitats across Central Scotland.
Central Scotland Amphibian and Reptile Group – Discover the secret lives of Scotland’s frogs, toads, newts, lizards and snakes, and how you can help monitor and protect them.
Hands-on fun with our education team
Over at the Blair Drummond stand, our education team will be running a wide range of engaging, family-friendly activities designed to inspire curious minds:
Build Like a Beaver – Use clay, sticks, moss and more to create your own mini dam, alongside a beaver dam and river flow demonstration.
Mini Beasts of the Water – Take a closer look at freshwater invertebrates and practise identifying these fascinating tiny creatures.
A Closer Look at Wildlife – Use pocket microscopes, magnifying viewers and pre-made slides to discover hidden details in nature.
Owl Pellet Dissection Display – Find out what owls eat and how food webs connect different species in the wild.
Biodiversity Scavenger Hunt – Follow clues and tick off native species as you explore.
Touch Table – Handle skulls, feathers, and other artefacts from Scotland’s wildlife and learn more about each one.
Colouring Corner – Relax with wildlife-themed colouring sheets, perfect for little nature lovers.
Pledge for Nature – Choose one of six simple actions to help native species and add your pledge pebble to our cup.
There’ll also be a tombola packed with animal-themed prizes – all in aid of raising money for Link to the Wild.
