Get ready to leap into a weekend full of fun and learning as we celebrate the incredible lemur on the 19th and 20th of October! From 10am to 5pm, we’ll be hosting a variety of interactive and educational activities, all designed to give you a closer look into the fascinating world of lemurs. You’ll find our Education stall next to the red ruffed lemur habitat.
Here’s what we’ve got planned:
Lemur calls challenge: Test your skills and see if you can identify the calls of the five different species of lemurs that live here at the park. Can you match each sound to the right species?
Vision comparison: Explore how lemurs see the world differently from humans. Compare dichromatic and trichromatic vision and discover how these creatures navigate their environment.
Be a scientist: Older children can become wildlife researchers with our ethogram activity. Observe and monitor our lemurs’ behaviours just like a real scientist!
Leap like a lemur: How far can you jump compared to a lemur? Test your jumping abilities in our fun competition!
Lemur skulls display: Get a close look at lemur skulls and learn about their unique anatomy.
Lemur tombola & raffle: Try your luck at our lemur tombola for the chance to win some fantastic prizes. Plus, enter our raffle for a chance to win a special lemur feeding experience – a one-of-a-kind opportunity to interact with these amazing animals!
Special guests: Our conservation partner Feedback Madagascar will also be attending to share information about their important work and bringing a selection of unique items from Madagascar. All proceeds from these sales will go toward supporting the important work of this charity, which helps protect lemurs and their habitats.
BIAZA Bioblitz: For the young naturalists, we’ll also have a small bioblitz stall set up. Explore specimen jars and learn more about the species spotted right here on site as part of the BIAZA Spotted on Site initiative. It’s a great way to get hands-on with conservation and discover the biodiversity in our own backyard.
Don’t miss out on this exciting weekend dedicated to learning, fun, and wildlife conservation! Mark your calendars for October 19th-20th and join us for Lemur Weekend. It’s a perfect event for families and wildlife lovers alike!
