Think Blair Drummond Safari Park and you think lions, rhinos, and giraffes right? Think again! We also provide safe spaces for our native wildlife to thrive – but how do we go about recording this?
As part of BIAZA’s Spotted on Site campaign, we are asking our visitors, staff, and members to help us do just that. The #SpottedOnSite campaign is designed as a way to collaborate, collect data, and showcase the biodiversity of life within the natural spaces of safari parks, zoos, and aquariums.
Using the iNaturalist UK platform, anyone can get involved. All you have to do is get snapping pictures of the local wildlife you spot right here in the park. The data you collect will feed into research projects across the UK, Europe, and the world.
Our grounds are home to a wealth of biodiversity and by capturing these images and sounds, we can contribute to invaluable national and global data sets. Simply download the iNaturalist app and upload any observations you have made whilst visiting us. You can add pictures of both plant life and animals, as long as they are native species. Observations uploaded with two or three photographs tend to work best.
So get out there and get snapping! Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for our lovely community of red squirrels… and their useful companions, the pine martens!
