While our big-ticket animals get a lot of attention, we’re also a haven for local wildlife—and we need you to help us keep track of it all!
As part of BIAZA’s Spotted on Site (SoS) campaign, we’re asking visitors, staff, and members to spot and record the fantastic variety of native wildlife that calls our park home. Using the iNaturalist UK app, you can snap pictures of plants, animals, and fungi you spot while exploring. Every observation contributes to national and global biodiversity research through citizen science, helping to showcase the importance of the natural spaces within zoos and aquariums.
And this October, there’s even more reason to get involved! BIAZA is hosting a special Autumn Bioblitz, where zoos and aquariums across the UK will compete to record the most species observations. From the 14th to the 20th of October, we’ll be vying for the top spot, and we need your help to put Blair Drummond on the map! Simply upload any wildlife pictures you take in the park and these will automatically be added to the leader board when you tag Blair Drummond Safari Park as the location.
Whether you’re spotting our beloved red squirrels or stumbling upon some fascinating fungi, every photo uploaded to iNaturalist counts towards this fun, week-long challenge. Not only will your observations boost our spot on the Bioblitz leaderboard, but they’ll also contribute to the year-round Spotted on Site campaign.
So, grab your camera, head out into the park, and start exploring. Who knows what native treasures you might find?
Let’s show off the beauty of Blair Drummond this autumn!
