Highland Cattle

Let's learn

As you can see from their long shaggy coats, these characterful cattle are designed for the cold Scottish weather. In the wild, Highland cattle will often use their strong horns to dig through the snow and ice when foraging for food. One of the oldest registered breeds of cattle in the world, the ‘highland coo’ originates from the west of Scotland and has become a much-loved mascot for Scotland. Thanks to their distinctive appearance and placid nature, Highland cattle herds (or folds) can now be found across the globe.
